Aidsassault® is a classroom/lab game designed specifically for students ranging from Junior High to college level. In the conflict, student groups role-play the assorted participants present in the actual AIDS infection: the AIDS virus, Kaposi's sarcoma, pneumonia, Helper T Cells, macrophages, Cytoxic T cells, B cell/Plasma cell/antibody complexes, lung and skin tissue cells. In-depth planning is required of the instructor/host for the game to be used to its full potential.
The game is ideally suited for 15 groups of students. One student may play several groups, if needed. Each group begins the fray with a number of units commanded of their character based on rolls of die after successfully answering questions pertaining to the cell or the immune system. Several game versions are suggested based on the amount of time the instructor wishes to devote to the material.
At the beginning of each phase of the conflict, the instructor may illustrate the battle at hand, with overhead transparencies, thus matching groups in battle as occurs in the AIDS victim. The participants roll the dice to determine the fate of our human. Reflection material and questions are supplied to assist the instructor and students in understanding the gravity of the AIDS invasion.
This product has been field tested, with lots of fun had by students and instructor. The game packet consists of the Aidsassault® booklet with black and white transparencies and two pair of dice.
I'm confident that this product will enhance the learing of AIDS and the human immune system in your classroom or lab.
